Hi I’m Alexis. My son is 14 with ADHD. He has always had behavioral problems here and there but they are still there. I feel like I need to get him help or seen.

Hi there, I have Inattentive ADHD and remember being that age and the hell I had to go through in school. I'm not sure what subtype of ADHD your son has, but if your son is already diagnosed and is not taking medication, I highly recommend to start off with a low dose stimulant medication and to take that medication with a specific list of supplements to help fight off the negative side effects common with ADHD medication. I would've loved at age 14, for someone to have noticed my condition and gotten me help. I was not diagnosed until my mid 20s, and it was through my own research that I got myself evaluated and then diagnosed.

Thank you so much. Yes he gets angry a lot but on the medication for focusing he would get mad once his medication wears off. I watch him and talk to him all the time to make sure that he knows I’m always here and whatever he is going through he is not alone. I’m sorry if you didn’t have that but hey you have it now . I’m here

You're welcome. Also thank you for the kind words

The irritability that occurs once the stimulant medication wears off is due to the neurotransmitters Dopamine and Norepinephrine being lower temporarily. The best remedy for this I have come across in my research is take take the supplement N-Acetyl Tyrosine either an hour or 30min before the medication wears off. That supplement works by helping the brain bring those two neurotransmitters back up. I've been taking it myself, along with multiple other supplements for about 3 years with great results. 3 other things I would highly recommend to take with stimulant medication are a

1. Good organic multivitamin

2. the supplement COQ10 to keep his heart safe and stop heart rate and blood pressure from rising

3. The supplement R-Alpha Lipoic acid. When someone takes stimulant medication, they need to consume a really good amount of antioxidants to fight off the medication's strong oxidation. R-Alpha Lipoic acid is one of the strongest antioxidant supplements out there. It also helps the brain with another neurotransmitter people with ADHD lack, Acetlycholine, which deals with mood changes, learning abilities etc.

I'm currently in grad school to become an MFT Psychologist, in order to help people with this very condition. I've made a series of videos on youtube of the struggles people with Inattentive ADHD go through throughout the years. If you click my picture it'll take you to my profile, and in my bio you'll find the links to the supplements I mentioned above with some info on each of them, and a link to the videos. Just in case you're interested.

I also fogot to mention the supplement L-Tryptophan. It works by increasing Serotonin, another neurotransmitter we lack. This helps with uplifting the mood, and increases empathy and socializing a bit
