Hello, introducing myself:))

Hello all, I realized I jumped on to this forum without properly introducing myself and making sure my presence here is ok. I am an ADHD coach and not a parent of a child with ADHD. I have, however, experienced parenting a child with some mental health challenges. Your support of one another is amazing, and as a coach, helps me understand the real day to day challenges. As I said, I don't want to intrude on a forum meant for parents, so please let me know if there are objections to my presence. Otherwise, thank you for letting me share in your journeys and if I have words of wisdom to pass along from my experience or work I am happy to do so. I would also welcome feedback and advice:))

Joanna03- thanks for the intro.. I have wondered about being a Coach and how you can touch lives and families of children with ADHD... is there a website or information on coaches? Also how are you paid ( if you don't mind me asking) I might need one for our son one day.

Thanks for jumping in..

Hi Onthemove1971. There are several different schools of coaching. I live in Canada and attended Adler, then did my specific coach training with Jodi Sleeper-Triplett. There are many different coach training schools and some that train specifically to ADHD. I think affiliation with the International Coaching Federation is important, for which you need a certain number of hours of training and mentor coaching. Regarding fees, I charge about $100 a session, which seems to be the going rate.

Uh....HECK YEAH! I would love to have your input on so many different questions all of us have! Welcome!

One last question I am curious about... In Canada where are ADHD Coaches hired? I know private where parents pay per hour. But where else do they work?

Thanks so much for joining us.

At the moment coaches are hired privately, either through private ADHD clinics or in their own practices. I don't know of any non-private institution that hires coaches.
