Organization in middle school

Wow, we have almost survived 6th grade in our first year of middle school, what a journey!

I would love to learn real solutions anyone has found for organization. My son is unable to go to class write do the homework assignment (FOR ALL 6) in his agenda and keep his papers organized in his backpack.

I have tried 1color per-subject- nope didn't work.

I tried 1 main binder with dividers-nope didn't work.

What did work is shove papers in and every few days dig them out and file them, not a good plan.

What do you parents of middle schoolers do?

I need a really good check in/check out system that includes rewards.

There are not lockers at school and he has to carry everything on his back.

I know there are creative people that have survived middle school, HELP!
