Hi all! I am a newbie. My son (5.5) was diagnosed with ADHD this week. This is not surprising to us but still feels like a lot to process. After getting a ADHD diagnosis is it recommended that we also get neuropsych testing done to make sure there is nothing else we need to be addressing?

ADHD is a disorder where co-morbidity is quite common...i.e they will have another disorder at the same time. It is worth doing the testing as it will give you a full picture of what you are dealing with instead of trying to deal with the ADHD and then finding out later that there is something else underlying your child's particular behaviour. If it is found that there is another disorder, then that knowledge is a good thing. At least then, you can have a full picture of what your child is dealing with and can put in strategies to help them.

my Twins have ADHD and my eldest child has aspergers. Both my twins were tested to see if they had an ASD. although they had traits of the disorder, neither were diagnosed as it was felt it wasn't too much .
