Hello, I'm new to this group my grandson has adhd and he has been so miss understood at school I feel so bad for him he gets into trouble all the time because he cant keep up with his school work and they expect him to do the work like all the other kids but if you don't take it slow with him he dose not get it his teacher dose not seem to understand that so he gets so frustrated he just sits their and dose nothing the teacher calls my daughter every day and says he is not doing his work. my daughter has punished him and taken away his toys and his teacher keeps calling ( he still not doing his work) when I talked to him about it he told me she go,s to fast so he don't know what to do. because she has told the class how to do it and he should have gotten it like the rest of class he is on a 504 plan but I don't see what they are doing for him. so I told my daughter to get a appointment set up and I will go with her because she also has adhd and other disabilities so I'm not sure how it is going to work out tomorrow but any advice would be appreciated.

Good for you. I am a Grandmother a 6 yr old with ADHD / a touch of Autism

You have a 504 plan in place, erite a letter request IEP to go with that.

I support my daughter and I do most it not all of the advocating for him, that's how I end up here after ruling out Autism as the main syndrome.

Search and research will now become your life. You will talk here about the many challenges if raising child with ADHD, SPD, TREATS, and many other thing that ale these young children.

Good luck. You may have to move him up to an I.E. P. You can get much more school notifications using that plan but the school's fight putting them on it because it takes more work on their part.

My grandson's Middle School was amazed that he was not on an IEP until fifth grade. But the school fought me so much about it I kept listening to them.
