My 6 year old son has just recently been diagnosed with ADHD by a child psychiatrist. A lil over a year ago i was given the same diagnosis from his pediatrician through a written evaluation from me and his then, kindergarten teacher. I have been presented with the option of medication, which is not the route i choose to take at this time. He’s been having problem in school since day care where he received early intervention to help him stay focused a little more. Since attending pre-k until now he’s had an in school councilor that he sees once a week as well as his continued IEP with the school counselor. He’s considered to be very impulsive and feels bad for his behavior afterwards. Academically he’s doing well and is on a higher level than most of the children in his class. I’m just afraid of his behavior and his short attention span affecting him as he gets older and the work gets harder.

My son has always hated school. From day one! Nothing about it he liked...nothing! Every year I️ dreaded when school started. He’s 12 yrs old now & this is the 1st year he likes it. He’s not on medication either. I watch his sugar intake, no high corn fructose, no red-40, really try gluten free food, little or no processes foods as possible, organic foods. I️ use essential oils. I️ also take him to a CranioSacral Therapist once a month. That has helped him tremendously! I recommend that you do your own research on that. Each person is different & believes in different treatments. Homework has always been a challenge but he is getting better. He does go to tutoring 2-3 days a week. That helps him & me! Good luck ♥️
What essential oils do you use? I started some vetiver with my 6yo son, he seems to like it and ask for it, so I am guessing there is something about it that makes him feel better. We watch his sugar (not strictly) and red dye... do you cut back on High fructose for the same reasons as sugar - or is there something else? We've been trying to deal with this without meds for about 2 years, so I'm always looking for other tips that have worked for other kids to try!
I️ use Young Living. I️ diffuse lavender at night for him. Also my cousin made a roll on calming oil that I️ roll on his wrist. Yes, I️ really try to watch high fructose because it seems to make him more hyper & defiant. It’s in a lot of things! Right now the essential oils seem to be working well ♥️ Best of luck❣️
We used magnesium (roll on type for the feet at bedtime or before school, bought on Amazon.com) and GABA (Pure Tranquility, bought from a holistic doc, but later found on Amazon as well) We didn't have much success with either, but since every kid is different, I figured I would mention it.
