I have a 6-year old that was recently diagnosed with ADHD. We are in the very first steps of diagnosis. We ended up pulling him out of Kindergarten last year and placing him back into preschool due to his behavior and the schools inability to handle him. He seemed to respond better in the preschool environment. We are in a new school this year and started again with Kindergarten, this time with a 504 Plan. We are still having trouble day by day with his impulsiveness and disruptions in class. We are now working without Pediatrician regarding proper diagnosis and medication. We are trying to inform ourselves with everything we can so we can be an advocate for our child.
A good resource we have found thanks to our Pediatrician are lectures and speeches by Dr. Russell Barkley. They have been so helpful and informative to us.
