Hi everyone, new to the group. Glad to find this group to talk to other parents who children who suffers with Adhd. I have a 7yr old son was was just diagnosed. Its very frustrating at time. My son suffers from hyperactivity and has a hard time in school. He doesnt have an IEP yet but meeting with the principal and his teachers tomorrow to discuss this. Hes getting no support in his classroom. He goes to a charter school so if hes not following the protocals he gets sent out the class often and i get phone calls daily. And at home he has tantrums and cries for everything. He doesnt know how to control his emotions. He sees a therapist once a week. Hes not on medication but I"m looking into natural supplements . If you guys can suggest some natural supplements that work, or or any advice would be great. It can be so overwelming at times but im glad I'm not alone.

My 7yr old has Adhd
So sorry you and your son are struggling! We are having very similar issue with our 10yr old newly diagnosed adhd son. He is 10 years old and in our state 5th grade is when he started middle school! We immediately met with his teachers to formulate a plan for a successful school year, and were blessed with wonderful teachers who want to work with him, and are invested in his success! Even though it can be very difficult i have found that teachers are infinitly more receptive if you can approach them in a positive way, perhaps pointing out the things you like about the classroom and teaching style and then addressing issues. I also have things in place to try to help my son succeed in school despite hard teacher.... Like a communication notebook between myself and his teacher and color coding all materials according to subject! I have also found a very strict schedule and very clear expectations at home(we even have ours posted all over the house) help tremendously! Hope this helps! Good luck! Your not in this alone!
Oh and we are currently thinking about medication as a last resort. We are changing his diet slowly in the hopes this may help.
I had a meeting with his teachers about how he is being supported in the classroom. Cuz last yr wasnt a good yr. and were on the right page. Started a schedule at home as well cuz he needs a balance. Medication is a last result as well. Looking into natural supplements. And cuz out all the sugary foods. But thank you for the tips.
