2 year old with ADHD ASD

My 2 year old boy from a boy girl twin set has ADHD ASD. His EEGs and MRI's are all normal leading me to believe he is more ADHD than ASD. He has had 3 seizures till date one at 6 months (febrile) and then in December 2019 and another yesterday. He has been taking nootropil 5ml BD and ceham 5ml OD but these have been phased off after a 3 month dose in April 2020. Frisium 2.5 x 5 days SOS post seizure is there too. They tried to give him Risperidone and also tried Donepazil Hydrochloride but nothing worked because that would do nothing but get my poor man to cry 24 hours a day and be highly irritated.

I look forward to learning about new procedures and medication from all of you.

Post his seizure yesterday, my son has been put back on Nootropil 5ml BD, OroferXT 5ml OD alternate day and Osteocalcium syrup 5ml OD. He also takes homeopathy and occupational therapy by his wonderful mother (who in turn was trained by a very senior doctor).

We are considering, for the future, treatments in Ayurveda and stem cell therapy if nothing works.

His MRI and EEG are normal and I can send them to anyone who can offer me good advise and new treatments in your countries (I am from India). I am open to talking about successful holistic or home based treatment too.

My son is a great guy and has an award winning smile and is great with expressions. However he cannot sit still for even 30 seconds unless hes watching Chu Chu tv on youtube (an hour a day). He seems to have never ending energy and can go up and down the stairs a 100 times and not get tired. He also dosent seem to sleep properly. In his first year I thought he was deaf but hes not. He can hear everything and a BERA test has been done. He just does not want to listen to you unless he himself wants to. He does hear my motorcycle start up from Inside the house and comes running to get a ride.

Not getting his way, esp when he wants a mobile or getting scolded by dad / mom, sends him into a meltdown and he HOLDS HIS BREATH which eventually leads to a seizure. Theres no way to get him back in a breath holding spell other than pulling his hair or splashing water on his face.

And oh, he does not speak. He can do a yes, no, Pppppp, qqqq, p q r s, paaaaapaaaaaa, maaaa but thats about it.

I feel hes loosing out on the childhood and fun moments he can spend with his twin sister (who is abs normal) and I would like to do anything in my limits to get him to behave normally and speak to us the way his sister does and say Jhonny Jhonny Yes papa!!

I highly encourage you to start researching broad spectrum micronutrients. They were recommended by my son’s psychiatrist. There are two companies, Hardy Nutritionals and True Hope.

Welcome to the group! We are here as an amazing group of parents, grandparents and caregivers to help our children be the best they can.

As far as the child holding their breath, so did mine. Our pediatrician was amazing and taught us to BLOW quick breaths in his face until he came to.. this helped a lot and he grew out of it.

It sounds like you guys have been down the trail of seizures, but are the doctors willing to give medication that helps to stop the impulsivity? There are stimulants and non stimulants. The good thing about trying them is you should know right away if they work. If you get positive result, but not enough then the dose will need to be increased. You can also get some of them in liquid or sprinkle form.

It will also be important that you treat the sleep issues, under doctors care.

I also wonder if some of his behavior is becuase his speech is limited. I hope you can get him speech thearpy.

At night we make sure our son has plenty of exercise before bed so he is tired.

Sounds like a special guy with many people who love him.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the reply! The doctors dont want to give anything for now other than Nootropil and Iron and calcium supplements. That always seem to calm him down. Hes also on Homeopathy. But yes im here to learn from this amazing group about all you are doing so we can try it here in India.
