Hi there. I am new to the group. I was recently diagnosed with ADHD and, as an adult, it has been pretty challenging. Anyone in the same boat? I want to be the best parent and spouse that I can be which is why I finally took myself to the doctor - after putting off my distractibility for basically my whole life. Best step I could have taken! Just looking for some additional guidance from others who know what I am going through. Any advice, tips or tricks would be appreciated

Adult ADHD challenges....
I was diagnosed in my late 30's and like you I've always suspected there had to be a reason for my inattentive/easily distracted behavior. I'm not sure if you chose to start taking medication or not but I do know it was one of the best decisions I've made. Although my husband has dealt with ADD his whole life I had a really hard time understanding him and why he did/didn't do things, such as being so focused on one project that took all day when it was really a 10 minute job or not completing projects at all once they were started. I finally after years of confusion and sometimes anger went to the internet and researched my butt off to find as much info as I could so I could understand what it's like to have ADD. The articles helped a lot to make me a better wife and understand/support him better. Of course now that I've been diagnosed and by doing the research before hand I have a better grasp on how or why I do the things that I do too.
Hope this helps a little.
