Good Morning from Maine! I am the proud mom of a beautiful, spirited, intelligent 8-year old daughter who was diagnosed with ADHD, social anxiety, and processing deficits in March 2016. Let's be real...it has been a long, exhausting road, and everyday presents both crazy challenges that make me want to scream as well as those moments that make my heart smile and remind me that I was blessed with her for a reason. She loves anything physical...riding her bike, playing light sabers with the neighborhood boys, soccer, softball, and maybe even wrestling this fall. She is a great reader, and learns best through verbal explanation or visuals. She is compassionate and sensitive. She adores her Mimi and Papa and loves spending time with them for sleepovers. She can take what seems like FOREVER to get ready in the morning. Certain clothing bothers her, and things have to feel just right. She would be content with the same one outfit 7 days a week. She is a picky eater...she won't eat anything re-heated, and heaven-forbid if I don't make my mac n cheese or spaghetti the same way as her Mimi. She can be snarky, impulsive, and needs TONS of time making a decision or answering a question. She can be socially quirky because she does not always "get" what others are saying. She is a black and white thinker. Although there are times when I want to lock myself in a room and cry, I love her with everything in me. Her freckles and bright blue eyes are the best, and her smile is infectious. I am her mother, her #1 fan, her advocate, and I am beyond blessed. Her name is Rylee. 💜

Rubyk9 this post is amazing! If I lived in Maine I would love to meet you. My daughter (8) is so so similar. I'm excited to commiserate and share our joys in this forum.

I literally felt like I was reading the exact description of my 7 year old daughter reading that, to a T! Wish you were closer so we could get them together, but we're in NY.
