What are the chances of the NHS giving me a hysterectomy? I'm fed up of being in pain all the time. Over the last 18 years I have tried the implant, injection, chemical menopause for 6 months, the coil and the patch. With each contraceptive the symptoms due down but then come back and ultimately now it's so bad it doesn't really help at all. The chemical menopause did help but I was in my 20s then and they said I was too young for a hysterectomy. Now I am 36 and I'm so done with being in pain, I can enjoy my life because the week before my period is awful due to pain and my period is due to pain and bleeding. I bleed after sex and that's when I can stand to have it due to how much it hurts sometimes. I have 3 children my family is complete. I have an appointment with the gyne at the end of Feb and my husband is coming with me as he is done with me being I pain all the time and wants to support me in my request. I also have changed to my cervix and have to have 6 months check ups and biopsies which I went through before in my 20s for 4 years and I just can't do all this again. My mental health is suffering but I'm scared to say anything to anyone incase they think I can't look after my kids.
I just want a hysterectomy and be done with it but I have been treated so terribly by gyne drs and been made to feel like I have just wasted time if I ever had such bad pain that I went to hospital. To the point now where I don't bother even going to see anyone when I'm in pain.

I'm so sorry that you're suffering so badly. I had a hysterectomy in 2021 at 35, although mine was for Adenomyosis and not because of my endo.
I think it's really important to stress that a hysterectomy isn't a cure for endo - any good Dr should explain this and highlight it in detail! It's been 14 months since my op, and my endo is now back they think (I'm just waiting for confirmation after some scans/tests).
So there is a chance you'll get one, but it's important to know its not a cure.
Hi - I'm in the same boat, had pain for 30 years this year and just want it all out - but waiting for appointment for last 2 years and it keeps being cancelled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then I'll be on ANOTHER waiting list for Years to get it done. I also need two surgeons as bowels are stuck to my endometriosis &adenomyosis uterus - so full of Hate for This Government - they have Killed the NHS - and really hope they are not voted in ever again!.
I think you best keep a diary - list the pain value out of 10 (they always want this crap) and the location, and the times of how long it lasts and the little effect of medicines, of TENS machine, of heat packs etc - have to say you life is being ruined and be honest about it causing mood swings and depression like mood when in the pain. Do claim PIP as it's a Disability now - do list all the medications you've tried, all the procedures you've had. List all the things it has ruined - ie my career my ability to be a proper mum, wife, daughter, friend etc!
I think you can look up the "NICE Guidelines" for hysterectomy- is online and NHS Drs are supposed to follow it. It let's you be armed with the knowledge to get the treatment.you need.
