There is a shortlist.

Anyone walk or know the areas?

If yours is in there let’s us know your favourite bits about your best walk.

Did they miss yours out!

Cambridge is amazing to walk around and very safe due to the lack of cars, but I had to dive out of the way of a few texting cyclists last time I was there 😱

Chorlton/Whalley Range is a surprise entrant in my opinion as that bit of Manchester is somewhere I don’t like walking... whereas I do love a lot of the areas surrounding it.

Glossop, well I walk there a lot, but the traffic queues and fumes from said vehicles don’t make for pleasant walking so I stick to parks and the surrounding hills and avoid the town itself... no surprises then that my current home isn’t on the list.

I ran in glossop once. I was there for a funeral and got up early from the travelodge and ran down the high street, It didn’t seem very long till I had to go uphill 😀.

I’m sure with these votes if more people knew about the original vote more places might come up.

Yep... can’t go too far without an uphill if you start in town, but I have thought about walking to the first summit on the snake pass and then running all the way through the town and up to the border with Greater Manchester... that would easily give me a 5k PB, maybe even 10k as it would be all flat/downhill, and mainly downhill... I’d need the roads closing though!

We will try and arrange it for you 😂😂😂.

If I had the inclination I’d ask the council if it would be possible to arrange such a run... but that would mean being responsible for it, and that would mean work and stress... I’m trying to avoid the latter. If somewhere did put a run like that on though I reckon it would be very popular with people wanting a PB.

I’m sorry you don’t get out as much as you would like. Hyde park is lovely. So many different corners to see.

In Yorkshire my Dad used to work for an organisation called Dial a Ride. They are very good at helping people to get around when things are challenging and he used to chat all day to his customers.
