Hi all.. I’m 11 weeks post surgery, which was 12 hours long.. recovery has been good, I’m more it less back to normal aside from some balance issues, which I’m having vestibular physio for. I wondered if anyone else has had a runny eye & nose (on the AN side) when eating or drinking? This only started about 3 weeks ago, no symptoms of it at first.. it’s just a bit annoying but a small price to pay I guess. Does anyone have this?

Yes I have that too and I’m 18 months past removal of a vestibular Schwannoma. It comes and goes I’m learning to live with it now. Eyes water but I can’t cry out of AN side strange stuff
Hi Gardener21, I am 2 years post op, my eye on side of tumour also does not cry (or leak) and I have to use fake tears, this is not a problem. However I am experiencing something similar to you, my nose on same side runs when I sweat (exercise, hot weather, bath etc.) but the other side does not, the other side runs when eating chilli or sneezing (like normal).
I must admit that this nostril running when I sweat is actually very debilitating, bizarre such a side effect can have such an impact following such a big operation when everything else is almost back to normal!!
I am currently seeing the ENT to try various things but she didn’t really seem to get it, however we have tried antihistamine spray, steroid spray, next is stomach acid inhibitors as she said the top of my stomach looked a bit red and maybe my body is reacting to that, will try these for a month.. although it only happens when I sweat so I don’t think it will do the trick, but it is of course good to rule these things out..
It seems there are some strange mixed messages going on with us now..
If anyone else has experienced this and found a solution, please let us know!!!
It’s an odd side effect. Quite annoying if I’m out, I’m conscious of trying not to sniff or blow my nose/wipe my eye while I’m eating. My physio said that it’s likely to do with the nerve disturbance/healing and may change. Hope you find something to help!
