Does anyone have experience or knowledge about medications changing personality and contributing to memory issues? My wife has been telling me how drastically out of character I have been for several months, and I don't seem to agree. Thanks!

Hi DrHypno I have been taking Citalopram for many years and if anything, I'm now becoming immune. Personally, I don't think my personality changed on these meds (my husband didn't mention anything) except that they did help a lot with my MH. So things didn't bother me as much as they would have done before. As for memory, I have had lapses but have put this down to aging etc. Hope this helps. Always (if you are able to) connect to your GP for concerns.
I took citalopram fir many years, I think Xanax is Prozac in the uk, which I was also on for a year.
I think they tend to dull the emotions a bit. I suggest that you and your wife might want to keep a diary, or a mood chart (loads online) so you can track symptoms over time. Then when you compare, you can see what’s going on.
Maybe it’s all linked to the pandemic and you’ll feel better as the situation begins to improve - here’s hoping.
