Writing makes me feel better about myself
Hello Jacquelinechristina,
Great post Jacquelinechristina, thank you.
I certainly agree that those of us that have mental health challenges can and do feel worthless and some people can make us feel worthless but after receiving help with self- esteem issues and CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) I have come to the realisation that we have a choice. We can choose to believe that we are worthless by how others make us feel or we can choose to say to ourselves ' I choose not to take on board your negativity towards me, your negativity belongs to you. I am an ok person.' I know this is hard to put in to practice but I do believe we also need to look at how we think about ourselves. I know I have found it easier to think negatively about myself in the past and still do at times today. It has taken hard work and perseverance to change my negative self-talk to positive.
I too find writing extremely helpful. Whether it is a torrent of angry words saying how I feel or a letter to someone that I will never send. I find writing helps me to express my emotions. I also like to write a little poetry (easiest in my darkest of times). I am now planning to write a diary, to set aside half an hour? a day to write about my day. I hope I can keep this up.
It will be great to hear what other members think JacquelineChristina.

Hello there Jacquelinechristina,
Welcome to our Community.
Excellent reply from my colleague Hidden
I'd just like to say that writing, drawing and painting are all very expressive tools, anything you do or make with your hands is a reflection of your inner self, be proud and confident. Try and keep a journal too, very helpful in identifying negative and positive issues you encounter.
Wishing you well
Chloe
