Duloxetine

Hi I'm new here. I have just been prescribed duloxetine (30mg) and after reading all the reviews on the internet I am very concerned about taking it. My doctor says I will be on it for 12-24 months and this terrifies me. Has anyone had any bad side effects? Is there any other way than drugs?

First of all I wish you a great day. I am happy to see that you have done your home work ☺ Duloxetine is not a nice one. In this era of information and resources we can decide to give our power away or take our power back. One thing that still puzzles me is this idea that antidepressants only start working after 3 weeks and that you have to take them for years. WHY? Many people have episodes of depression, not ongoing depression so WHY years? My suggestion is first try everything you can non drug related, talk therapy, mindfulness, yoga, reading about other people's journey, suplement your diet with foods that are mood enhancers (there is a lot of information on the web), there is a book called " depression the curse of the strongest" that is worth reading. Then, if everything fails, you might consider taking a drug to help you cope, but do your search and find one of the latest oneste and discuss it with your GP. Taking a drug for years to treat depression does not make sense, especially when the list of secondary effects is far longer than your current problem, and even includes the problem your want to solve. I wish you all the best, and don't let others take your power, make an informed decision keep well and keep safe. Xx

I have been taking 120mg duloxetine for the last 5 years. I have recently stopped as after five years my various mental health conditions have NOT been helped by duloxetine, this anti depressant prescriptions seem random and no anti depressant on the market is more than 5% better than a placebo. look it up I am not wrong. Do not take duloxetine, it makes you moody, suicidal and fat. trust me.
