It's not uncommon for people to be able to change the tones of their tinnitus (or sometimes even quieten it right down) my moving the muscles of their face or neck - it's called somatic tinnitus.

Be careful pressing your neck that’s where your carotid artery is you may damage it .
Thank you so much , my husband told me the same thing. I thought it could be my circulation or something to do with my arteries since it goes away when I touch it there but I will get that checked. I have many sounds but that one bothers me the most
Good question,
I have this same symptom. It is under the category of pulsitile tinnitus. It’s related to the veins near the ear. Or...you may have a failing ear drum and corresponding bones. That’s why moving can stop it. In my opinion, the T we have that is a high pitched hissing or whistling is T but the other things like base thumping that are intermittent or hyperacusis/hypoacusis should be under another heading.
Could this demonstrate the lack of empathy for these subjects amongst the academics we ask to help us?
Given the chaos and corruption in medicine and big business, it may be in intentional gap left in comprehensive and applied science.
My experience tells me, it’s better not to let it thump for long because it will stay around for a while. So, fight that one. Don’t let it run away.
