I'm 24 and about a year ago I started getting painful red lumps in my armpit. They'd come for about a week and then go again. I saw my GP and she looked and said she wasn't worried about it/ it just looked like a boil likely caused by shaving. But I keep getting them and I never have before.
I've been sick with flu/ some sort of virus this week and my armpits have really flared up. I've got a few lumps on both sides and they're so painful.
Does this sound like it could be lymph node related??

🤔 Another potential cause of armpit lumps in women, which tend to also occur near the breast and groin regions, is hidradenitis suppurativa. This chronic condition involves clogging and inflammation near apocrine glands of hair follicles in the skin, commonly causing painful boil-like lumps that fill with pus, leak, and possibly even become infected.
🙂For peace of mind…ask your GP to check these again for you.
Lymph nodes aren’t usually red (maybe never red) and usually not painful. It’s worth seeing the dr again because if it’s worse when you’re ill there could be an underlying problem like vitamin deficiencies or immune problem. I would say it’s more likely a combination of shaving and chemical deodorants irritating it or blocked hair follicles.
