Breast pain on the pill?

Hi everyone, I’m new here. I’ve been on the contraceptive pill for over a year and take it on time every day and never missed a pill. I’m recently been experiencing really sore breasts for the last couple of weeks (not due for my pill break and bleed for a few more days.) I’m worrying about the pain, is this normal if I’ve been on the pill for so long? Or could it be something else? Any help greatly appreciated x

Sometimes the pill can cause boobs to grow bigger - does your bra still fit you OK?

Thanks for replying, I thought this but my bra still fits fine!

It could be worth measuring, just to be sure. I thought my bra fit fine, but turned out I was wearing 2 cup sizes too small (for years).

This was a useful calculator:

It could be something else, like exercising with an inappropriate bra can cause boob pain too. Also a good idea to just rule out pregnancy (I know someone who conceived both her kids while on the pill).

Thanks, I’ll have a measure and check. I’ve done two tests and both negative. I’m just worried as I’ve been on the pill for over a year with no issues at all, it seemed odd that it would only now cause me pain!

It's worth seeing your doctor if it goes on. I went through a spell of breast pain, and eventually traced it down to my sports bra not being supportive enough, but that's where my experience and knowledge ends unfortunately...

Hi. I have had issues experiencing breast pain with several pills. It might be worth asking gp for different pill and also for a breast exam to check everything is ok.

Hi, I’m on my week pill break and the pain has eased. I’m on Rigevidon at the moment but I’ve got a doctors appointment to swap to an alternative pill as it’s a common side effect. Hope this helps! :)
