A week is a long time when ur anxious. I had to take several drugs after a heart attack and stent a year ago. Im sure i should be off it now. Anyone help?

Hi, I am on Mirtazapine and have been for months. They are an anti anxiety drug and as such have helped me. I have only had one major side effect and that is weight gain almost 2 stone in less than a year! I gather that is a common side effect. As for nose bleeds, I haven’t had or read anything connecting it to that. I too had a heart attack with a stent 2 yrs ago now and my anxiety levels are way up there ever since so you are not alone there. X

It’s tough isn’t it? Everyday is a fight against anxiety. I presume you are on daily asprin? Could that be a cause of nose bleeds? It is strange that they stopped and came back when you went on Mirtazapine. I don’t know about you but it’s nigh on impossible to talk to a dr nowadays.

Dizziness turned to a faint tonite hubby phoned ambulance but i was feeling better when they came. Wish i had stuck to my thoughts and not taken Mirtazapine pill an hour before. Yes anxiety is a constant battle. Yes on aspirin too. Mirtazapine has a side effect of nose bleeds if ur susceptible. I have doc appt tomorrow not looking forward to it. Think Im gonna come off Mirtazapine side effects not worth it.

I will but I don’t hold out much hope as pills interact differently with different people don’t think its taken into account we r individuals.

Sorry I didn’t reply but lost password and just felt too awful. Doc appt was useless. I stuck to my gut feeling and stopped taking pills. Nose bleeds stopped. Will never take anti depressants again. I developed irregular heartbeat which caused fainting can’t blame pills but who knows! Sick of doctors i think they are useless mine just looks things up on NHS website but doesn’t seem to realise im an individual and medications do interact more with some than others. I don’t bother with doc unless i have to as i will never forgive her for treating me for asthma when i had a clogged artery which led to me nearly losing my life with a massive heart attack! Dizziness can come from all sorts of things including heart problems you just have to check things out yourself if doc as useless as mine. I use sea salt spray if i think its my sinuses which it sometimes is. Good luck

Obviously you should consult with your Doctor and Cardiologist, but I underwent the same procedure as you and have been on a cocktail of drugs ever since. I was originally on Ticagralor, but was changed to Clopidogrel... Both anti-platelet drugs doing the same thing, but Clopidogrel interacts with other drugs differently. After a year, I was told I could come off them and just stick with the small dose (75mg) of Aspirin daily. I decided that I wanted to stay on Clopidogrel for a while longer, as I have got used to the prolonged bleeding if I cut myself, the occasional nose bleed, and bruising easily and there are pparently no other bad things about staying on it. From the studies I've researched Mirtazapine appears to be one of the safest anti-depressants for use by people with heart issues... The SSRI group, which is the normal "go-to" group, although relatively safe, can have a tendency to increase heart-rate and blood pressure in some people. Chat it through with your healthcare professionals.
