Help with period

Hello, I’m mid cycle with ovulation sticks giving me a positive result when suddenly last night I started bleeding. Not just spotting but a bright red bleeding with two clots leaving my body when I first discovered the bleeding. I now have tummy ache like a period and still bleeding but again this morning the ovulation sticks are giving a positive result. Does anyone have a clue what might be happening? Thanks

It's normal to spot around ovulation, but with unexpected heavy bleeding, I would consider speaking to your doctor.

Were you taking hormonal birth control recently? It could take time for periods to settle down after stopping it.

Thanks, no birth control, we have been trying for a baby for many months, and it’s definitely too heavy for spotting. I have contacted the doctor to see what they say. It is very strange. I’m normally regular as clockwork.
