What should I do?

I’m 22 and give myself a breast screening every month. Breast cancer doesn’t run in my family however I suffer with major anxiety regarding my health so I like to check.

However I have never checked my armpits before until today.

I have noticed that one of my armpits is bigger than the other, it’s not necessarily a lump but it’s definitely bigger than the other, looks almost swollen?. I feel like it may have been like this my entire life but I can’t remember for sure and because of that I’m a little bit concerned. It has certainly alway has a ‘hill’ but I’m not sure if it’s got bigger.

I have added a photo which tries to show the difference I’m trying to describe. mine is not a dramatic as the photo, one armpit of mine is pretty flat and the other is in between these two photos. Please note this isn’t me so it’s not my armpit(s).

Should I be concerned and go to the doctors?

**EDIT: I forgot to mention it ONLY appears when my armpit is stretched right out like the lady in the photo. In a normal position I wouldn’t even notice it. It’s soft and I have always had a ‘raised’ armpit similar to the first pic below.

🤔 As you’re probably aware there are several reasons for swelling occurring. For an accurate diagnosis contact your GP.

Your lymph nodes may become swollen and tender if you have a cold or the flu. There are also several types of lymphatic conditions that can cause armpit pain. ... Another condition, lymphadenopathy, also causes the lymph nodes to enlarge. It's caused by an infection of the lymphatic system called lymphadenitis.2 Nov 2018
