Being that I don't know how old you are or if you have regular periods, here are some things to consider in different stages of your life. Are you keeping track of your period schedule? If it's not on schedule and you are getting small amounts of pink or blood clot looking things in your toilet bowl then it's spotting. If it's in the middle of your cycle, you probably want to discuss with your gyno. If it's a few days or at the start of your period then it's probably just the start of your period. If you are during parimenopause then it could be that you are starting to slow down the process and will be starting menopause soon. If you're going through menopause then it could be thickening of the endrometrial lining. Also spotting can be the result of cysts which may or may not go away on their own. In any case, if you see any abnormal spotting that is not within the beginning time frame of your period, you should discuss with your gyno. I've been through all of the above scenarios at one time or another.
