Hello, I am new here and freaking out. I was admitted in A&E in August, as I could not pass urine. I have been with a catheter ever since. An US scan showed 2 subserosal fibroids, one at the top of the womb of 8cm and a posterior of 5cm. NHS is doing what they can, but the surgeon I saw is talking of an open cut surgery to remove the fibroids, and the whole womb in case of complications.
I read so much and think there are less invasive ways to intervene. However this is urgent, because of the catheter and being generally run down. Could anyone suggest how to go about trying less invasive methods through the NHS? hopeful, scared and worried Dorita

Hi, I had 3 fibroids in muy uterus and they made me pee every hour because I coudn't hold my urine, apart from really big, painful periods, anemia, etc. I finally had a hysterectomy because no other option was available for me. But There are other options like hormonal treatments ,mirena coil, etc. The problem as you said is it's something urgent, since you can't be with a catheter for a long time. You might have to listen to your doctors, they'll know what's BEST for you in your current situation. No one wants to have a surgery, I wouldn't have had it if I have had another option, but sometimes it's the only one. Good luck!
THanks Escarole. i am sorry to hear about your experience. I guess i am trying to find out whether there any options . Did the doctors you have seen ever discussed what was available out there?
