I start on Monday.

I found it yesterday and have everything with me today to read through - weekly shop is tomorrow and hopefully my planned menu will go fine. I have been using Rosemary Conley's vegetarian recipes (from one of her books) for the last few weeks and find I feel really good on the lower fat diet, and I think contributing to that is that carbohydrates are also now balanced in my diet. Being a vegetarian is not easy especially as my dietary preferences place me more towards the vegan scale than a egg-eating, dairy loving veggie.

At least I have the exercise thing sorted, have tried running outside since beginning January but since the weather turned sub-zero I haven't been out, I can see that dreaded gym is looming in my life again.

Hello Everyone, My Dr. told me yesterday to join NHS Choices to help me loose weight,so today I registered & I was amazed how much info there is on here, it is going to take me a while to get in the swing of it. I was chuffed to see the links on exercise to be done indoors, i shall have a look, But must becareful as I am a 61 year old lady who has arthritis, I was wondering has anyone got any reasonably priced low fat or NO fat recipes I could copy?as I have never counted calories or weighed food out...if anyone has any kind of tips I will be happy to hear from you, thank you kaffi :-)

Hi Steven, I have just started the NHS plan this week and finding it easy to keep a check on what I eat and drink using the chart. Also took your advice and am doing a bit of Yoga + found out about Aqua Aerobics near me. Will start going next week. Arthritis is not too bad at the moment and am feeling more energetic.

This is day 3 for me. & I will be honest I have NOT tried any of the recipe's on this site yet,briefly... My head is all over the place , as my one & only sister passed away last week & I can not concentrate on recipes at the moment..I have been eating stew plenty veg ..fruit. porridge, skim milk, steamed chicken plenty veg jacket pot. weetabix no sugar. NO fat pork chop veg jacket pot small NO butter .I am hoping I can get to grips with the lovely recipes links you sent me, I am finding it very hard at night after 8 & during the night when i wake to go a loo, I am starving!! any idea what I can do please? :-(

Hi kaffi,

Sorry to hear about your sister's passing. Don't be too demanding of yourself during what must be a difficult period. You may not be in the right place at the moment to be making drastic lifestyle changes. Focus on the healing process and then re-visit your diet and exercise regime when you feel the time is right. In the meantime, try to stick to your current healthy eating habits, you're on the right track.

We're all here for you.

Steven
