I am the opposite if I do not have any in the house I have to get some and then I will eat some but as long as I have them in stock I can just leave them alone in the storage box my biggest fault is white chocolate which I like to eat whilst in bed reading I am very early to bed at around 20,00hrs or 8 o'clock as I like to read plus by then I can no longer be upright as my back is broke in 4 places and both knees and both hips need replacing but the doctor does not want to do it as I am not ment to have a general anaesthetic due to my heart and does not want to give me a epidural due to the damage of my back which was due to an accident whilst in the army. Good luck with the weight loss. Regards Poppy Ann.

Wow, Poppy_Ann, you are dealing with a lot! I’m not surprised you go to bed early for a bit of relief. Yes, we are all different: if I knew I had chocolate in the house, I wouldn’t be able to concentrate on my book as the chocolate would be calling to me!

Poppy and you have a lot to deal with. With your broken back you can't do much exercises can you do seated exercises?

Hi Bluelady-sing,

Crisps are so full of fat and salt including sugars this is what I used to do, now if I fancy snacking usually in the evenings watching telly, On a Sunday when I do my main shop for the week I buy a bag of carrots some fruit, celery and salad stuff where I cut these up or julienne these pot the carrots into a plastic tub I have also started making my own humus now as well tin of chic peas, blender and a couple of red peppers or even onion or even blended tomatoes, have a go with this and see how go, doing this you can have a naughty snack now and again so don't stop all that just eat more healthily and try some walking locally for half an hour or so, I was 18 stone, I am now 13 stone just doing all this. hope this has helped slightly

Regards

Mark

Hi Mascotty02

Do you have a recipe for your hummus?

I have tried a few times can’t seem to get it quite right any suggestions?

Thanks

Julie

Hi Dietwoman,

Can of chickpeas, Juice from 1 lemon and pinch of lemon zest (optional)

cumin optional ¼ tsp, 2 x red/green/or yellow pepper I use green or red as it looks good

1/2 clove garlic - (Optional) I use about 5 tablespoons of extra Virgin Olive Oil

1 tsp salt add more to taste, remove the skin/s from the pepper/s just burn them off on a gas stove or roast them separately when doing Sunday roast, once skin removed cut them up and then throw everything into the blender adding the oil drop by drop until you get the consistency you like

enjoy

No problems, you may not get it perfect the first time, but practice makes perfect, think I had to throw my first 2 I made but you can learn from those mistakes lol, mines now perfect if I do say so myself.

kind regards

Mark

Thanks, mascotty02 for the reminder about hummus. I would have it as part of a salad-y meal as I am trying hard to do without snacks. Even if it doesn’t turn out exactly right, it is far better than shop-bought, and you know exactly what’s in it. I avoid ultra-processed food wherever possible. My temptation is almonds - the recommended ‘small handful’ isn’t very much!
