No need to consider a gastric band when you know that the sort of food you're eating affect your hormones which give you stronger hunger pangs and reduce the sateity signals when yo do eat.
What you need to do is keep your blood sugar down by avoiding carbohydrates, especially refined ones like bread and sugar.
Hi & welcome! You've come to the right place if you're looking for help and support 😊
Obviously, everybody's situation is different, but my opinion is that surgery should be a last resort. Besides which, I've heard that the patient has to lose X amount before they can get weight loss surgery, to show their commitment. So it's not an easy fix.
I would suggest that you start with the basics. Start with a notebook or electronic file and note down your daily food, drink and exercise, without making any changes. After one week, review what you've written and look for things you can substitute for healthier options or just cut down. Continue to note down everything and review once a week.
Weight loss is not linear, so I'd recommend taking key body measurements on a monthly basis, along with progress photos. These will help you to see progress when the scale is not going down.
Give yourself a goal to lose 5% of your starting weight. Once you reach that, you could review whether you think you still need the surgery or if you can continue to lose weight with the habits you have built by that point.
I look forward to seeing you around the forum and wish you all the best on your journey 😊

Picking up in what has already been mentioned about having to have achieved weight loss before any surgery - by then to do this your eating pattern will be improved and this makes you feel better psychologically too. When I started thinking about what I ate then the weight slowly dropped I could move better and began to like myself. Joints were looser so I walked more. I bought new clothes which gave me a boost as my weight caused me anxiety and panic so I would avoid shopping for anything new to wear . if anyone would have suggested a quicker fix I would have been tempted but read so many horror stories especially those who had surgery abroad as cost and waiting times in UK tend to make you take risks but I also read that afterwards you are severally restricted to what you can eat and it isn’t always a success. Everyone is different but I would start with cutting out processed foods , aim for 3 reasonably portioned meals a day and see how this goes as once the weight starts to shift you may rethink . Watch any snacks and drinks.
how much weight do / did you need to loose I need to loose about seven stones . X
Hi, here are a couple of personal stories from members who had a similar amount to lose as you have. I hope they give you some encouragement
