My weigh-in was this morning. The last three weeks my weight has not gone down nor up, but this morning when I weighed myself, I had gained 4 pounds. I was in tears. I work out three times a day, every day. I portion control all my meals and I am on WW (formerly Weight Watchers).
I am at a loss. I don't know what I did wrong. I don't eat much sweets unless it is small and sugar-free. I don't drink soda anymore and I quit drinking alcohol ( 1 year and 11 months sober).

Hi Oceana Skylla, Sorry you have had a poor w-i. I have definitely been there with several pounds on. Have you tried the Daily Diary? Planning food and exercise. Also we have 35 days left on Countdown to Christmas Challenge. Looking at ways of eating and sharing our journey. We'd be glad of your input x 🍄🍅🍆🍠🥒🥔🥕🫑🦃😊🙃😊
I really feel your frustration and disappointment. I have been struggling myself. Do you log what you eat (as Hopalong asked)? That is one of my tools and find it helps keep me on track.
There are lots of reasons why we gain weight - and sometimes it's only a temporary gain. How do you feel? How do your clothes fit? Do you take your measurements? These are other ways to judge your progress other than a number on a scale. Don't give up! You are doing great and you will eventually have success!
Hi Chris72FibroBipolar, welcome, and thank you for your support. May I ask if you're on your own weight loss journey or just visiting, either way is fine by us.
Sorry but don't let this knock you. There are many reasons for a gain that have other reasons. Salt intake can affect water retention. Time of the month affects us girls too... try lifting and replacing scales on the floor. Mine are very sensitive to movement. I have to place them in a specific place for consistency. ( tiled floor provides grid lines and I line them to the same place, if they move from that spot my weight can easily be +/- several lbs!.... be gentle on yourself and keep going. Cheering you on!
The menopause in terms of weight is a topic that is often overlooked as articles seem to focus on mental health but wow do I know it as I am now 63 and weight crept on at 40 plus . The only way I shed any weight is exercise but ensure the calories you consume are balanced as I was on a 1200 cal - I could only call it regime which I lost more weight increasing to 1450 as a guide and walking more . Food alone unless you are seriously overweight has not even maintained my weight . I am not sure whether Weight Watchers brands are balanced and nutritional but I would tend to use my own recipes and MyFitnessPal app is good as you can scan foods vis barcodes -just use the free version then it’s not obsessive but it will guide you through basic macros to give a basic understanding of what is in the food you are eating as I was eating too much salt without knowing it . Maintaining is a positive as going through the menopause with hormones in the equation is difficult but quality food helps you mentally too . Great you are addressing it whilst you are young .
Are you upping your exercise? When you exercise more you build muscles which are firmer (I know this sounds obvious but when we are emotionally invested in our scales this is worth pointing out) and take less space so your trousers feel looser and you weigh more.
Also, have you considered time and circumstances. ALWAYS at the same time of day and day, and in the same conditions. I weigh before my morning coffee, after a wee and before shower or food, always on a Wednesday. If I weigh on a Tuesday I’ve been at work the day before and my body is fuller of food.
When I started working out more I retained water as I worked out before bed.
Lastly please please persevere don’t give up I often say things like if you’d given up potty training after 3 weeks you’d still be in nappies (diapers). Come and join our weigh ins, you need encouragement. Even post menopause I have observed I only lose 3/4 weeks.
