Hi this is my first time posting here. I’ve always been healthy and athletic but ever since I went on Paxil almost one year ago I gained weight. Today I decided this is it. I’m going to lose it. I walk and run occasionally jump on a trampoline occasionally but now I’m going to really step it up. I’m thinking I will walk every day and do weights, leg lifts and crunches. I think Sunday will be a rest day. I have to just do it. I think what may keep me motivated to go further will be to try to do more and more each time so I have something to shoot for. Also I can look forward to feeling comfortable in my body again. Right now my diet consists of mostly fruits vegetables nuts seeds beans some meat and I don’t eat junk food except I have been eating bread and pasta which I am cutting out from now on.
Any tips???

I certainly have maintenance down as well. I’ve been the same weight for about four months. Getting the same five and losing it and gaining it and losing it. Let’s do this together I too will Val to walk every day and hike on Saturday. I don’t eat meat. I’m vegan but the last two weeks I’ve been eating sweets and those are going to be cut out now. OK let’s check in with each other
If you're cutting out bread and pasta, make sure you add some fat to your diet to compensate, otherwise you'll feel like crap and you'll start getting irresistable snacking/carb cravings.
As long as you don't have any intolerance, eggs and dairy products are a good choice (eg., Greek yoghurt, butter, cheese). You can also choose fattier cuts of meat, eg., chicken thigh portions instead of lean breast meat.
Go with vegetables rather than fruit. There's nothing wrong with fruit of course, but nobody needs regular doses of it.
I'd also suggest that, as soon as you feel able to do so, you should discontinue the drug (under medical supervision of course). All SSRIs have unpleasant side effects, their effectiveness is hit-and-miss, and they are not intended for long-term use (partly because severe withdrawal symptoms become more likely). Make sure your doctor is reviewing your requirements at regular intervals and not just handing out repeat prescriptions.
Discontinuing the Paxil I’m afraid would be a big mistake as it’s the only med that finally has ever helped me. I’m finally in a good place emotionally. I’m on a few other meds as well. I wish I wasn’t. But you are right and I will need to just not now I think.
Yes, I have a tip, but you're not gonna like it. More exercise = more hunger = more eating!
I had awful weight gain with Remeron. It's a monster that entirely changes what as well as how much you eat. Heck, you know that.
Personally, I don't think bread is a problem with weight loss as much as white bread being an issue. I know you've got a lot on your plate (ouch), but would a bread machine be out of the question? I love mine.
Back when I could eat more normally, I found homemade muesli filled me up for hours so I didn't have starvation problems. Let me know if you want a recipe. (You can bake it into granola if you want the extra work.)
It's complicated. I had an awful struggle with weight gain from Remeron and other problems. Now I have a struggle with dangerous weight loss. Food has become a trigger for me, and I am working to return it to a healthy, pleasurable activity.
I agree about protein for breakfast. I can't tolerate egg yolks in the morning because of stomach problems, but I love hard-boiled egg whites with chermoula. Yum.

Mmm Starlight I love it
Do u know what I love about you? You know what you have to do to get it back. I have never been on trampoline at all but I wish to just jump there. Well, take it up a notch now. I exercise a lot atleast five days a week, one hour each. I do a lot of TaeBo, Zumba dance, HHIT and yoga on Fridays. TaeBo just pushes me to the limits, those kicks and punches by the time I am done, I can't even breathe anymore. It amazing Starlight.... Get on back, you are exciting me here and I was just doing kickboxing now and I need coffee ☕ to come down. I sleep like a baby after those kicks. Good job👍👍
I have not decided for now. I am following Starlight and I received a notification and I found out she is here, so I am supporting her for now. I think I might join later. Thanks
That's great. Lovely to see the cross links between forums. I've given you a Visitor badge that will be visible here so you won't get other Admins asking you the same.
You are an inspiration to me! Yesterday I did floor work- as many crunches as I could and as many inner and outer leg lifts as I could do. Today I feel sick but when I catch a break I’ll walk or do trampoline and then lift weights. So glad you are here!!!!!!!!!!
