Hello everyone,
I have just joined, hoping for some tips on keeping focused.
A big wake-up call, just discovered I'm at risk of diabetes2? I think that's correct, all too new to me at the moment.
Any suggestions or help greatly received.
Thank you.

It's almost certainly correct, assuming you have a diagnosis of pre-diabetes. You're in good company, apparently that is true of 1/3 of the adult population.
It's because of our diet.
You can turn it around easily.
Welcome to this amazing forum. I suggest you spend some time clicking about to find your way around. It's easier if you have a lap-top as there are several threads. If you’re using another device I strongly suggest that you use the web page as opposed to the app at least until you know your way around.
Have a good read of the pinned post “Welcome Newbies” and follow every thread.
Here’s the link to the pinned posts, healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
Here’s the link for the “Tour” of the forum. If you haven’t already taken it.
I strongly suggest you read and contribute to the Daily Diary and participate in a Weekly Weigh in.
You will find there's loads of tips about better eating, from other members. Sharing your daily menu not only helps you stay committed, it can help other members too.
Good luck I hope to "see " you around. Xx
Hi Bree,
I just joined too!
I think I’m in the pre-diabetes waiting room. It’s scary.
I’m hoping this app will be a good place to start. Along with cutting down on the wine 🙄.
Wishing you well x
Hello Mstyrion and welcome to the forum,
I would suggest you start making changes now to your way of eating to avoid entering the pre-diabetes stage. I wish I had been more knowledgeable years ago.
This is an interesting read,

If you need further evidence that LCHF will help, then take a look at diabetes.co.uk/pre-diabetes...
If you haven't already, please take the time to read the Welcome Newbie post, this will help you to navigate the forum, which is best done using the full website and not the app.
Please also take a look at all of the Challenges, Clubs and Events that we have, to help to keep you motivated and engaged with the forum.

The above link will take you to all the information you need. Participation is key to success and I would recommend that you at least join the Daily Diary and a Weigh In day of your choice.
As a peer to peer support group, we all benefit from encouragement and support from one another, so look forward to seeing you join in around the forum
If you haven’t already taken it, here is a link to a tour of the forum,
Wishing you the best of luck on your weight loss journey
Hi Bree55 and welcome.
My son has T1, I had gestational diabetes (but have avoided T2 since) and both my parents wwew T2. Have a look at the nhs12 week plan, check the bmicalculator for the recommended calories per day as a good starting point.
I would look to watch the amount of processed carbs (breads, pastas, sauces etc) and fruit (hidden sugars) in your daily intake keeping them to 50% max as an idea for starting. And beware grapes and bananas, they have lots of hidden sugar.
Good luck with it, the support and different ideas here are amazing.
