Any advice on family takeaway

Hi tomorrow my family want to get a dominos for a family birthday. I was wondering how to tackle this and stay in my calorie limit.

Should I avoid the pizza all together and make my own food or a little of both? Any advice would be welcome.

If your meals are generally healthy (ie., they're helping you to lose weight) then your "calorie limit" is irrelevant. Your body doesn't have a little calorie-meter inside it that it uses to punish you for eating pizza. Fat deposition and recovery operates on power demand/expenditure, not total energy.

Just order whatever you like from Dominos, eat it (without guilt) and then go back to your healthy-eating routine. As long as you're not ordering pizza every weekend, it will make little difference to your weight loss journey.

Thanks that’s really good way to think about it, I’ll keep focusing on healthy meals and enjoy the birthday meal 😊

If it was me? I'd skip it. I love pizza. I haven't had it since last year. I will have it soon, but it's going to be from a good local wood fired pizzeria. Domino's make pretty terrible pizza bases. I wouldn't waste my carb allowance on it.

I can't access the dominoes menus outside the UK for some reason, but if I had to order from them, I'd be looking at dressed salads and things like chicken wings.

If you love love love dominoes pizza bases, then follow TheAwfulToad advice. If you think it's meh, then save those carbs for something you love

yeah, I have to say, Dominos wouldn't be my choice if I were going to have a carb binge! However, if it's a party occasion, I find it's more enjoyable just to go with the flow, regardless of the quality of the food. We went to a birthday party a few days back (kid's party). Dad is massively overweight and mum can't cook. The food was predictably stuff-from-packets (and if you think British stuff-from-packets is bad, you haven't seen what Big Ag can come up with in a country with no rules). But whatever. It's a social occasion, so we ate some of the bad food and enjoyed ourselves anyway.

Yeah I could take it or leave it with dominoes, I think I’m just not used to eating something ‘other’ in social situations. I think I will see how I feel and act accordingly.

Thanks guys, I was dreading refusing food or eating a meal at the gathering then having guilt but this advice has helped. I guess it’s trial and error and a opportunity to learn how to stay on the weight-loss path.
