SPANISH TAPAS.

I live in Spain. It is so difficult to eat healthy when I go into our small town for a tapas evening. I stick to water so that is good but it’s the tapas never know what to choose off menu to eat.

Everything except patatas bravas!

I've lost 20kg going low carb. There is not much starchy or sugar food in tapas, so just no potatoes, bread, pasta or rice - or sugar.. I would go to town on everything else.

Edit: so no croquettes or paella. I would also go easy on the battered fish, or strip a lot of the batter off.

Thank you. Ok at home eating. More when I go out to eat. Out tonight. Ribs and steak on menu as well as tapas. May go for a steak with no salsa and a salad. Fingers crossed.

Oh, what's in salsa that means you shouldn't eat it? I have been eating a lot of tomatoes, peppers and chillis.

Yes I fine with tomato onions garlic pepper salsa but really like the cheese salsas which I try to avoid.

Right. You are following low calorie, low fat. Mediterranean food will not help you there.

Do read up on LCHF. You can have the cheese sauce, unless there is flour in it.

Actually, there probably is flour in it. Maybe neither of us can have it!

I haven't much to add to reply from Subtle_badger .. I eat lchf so cheese or a pinchito go down well (no bread!)

Lindylou you are lucky. I come from Spain and miss the tapas terribly, although I tend to do my own. There are plenty of tapas that you should be able to have : asadillo de pimientos , (tasty roast pepper salad with olive oil garlic and cumin) boquerones en vinagre (anchovies macerated in vinegar, great on a slice of tomato) mejillones (mussels) albondigas en salsa (meatballs) calamari, olives, gazpacho, queso Manchego, gambas al ajillo (garlic prawns)and on and on I could go....

Explore and enjoy!!
