Day 9: Get thee gone, temptations.

Evening lovely people,

I hope your days are going well.

Today was full of temptations: chocolate, biscuits, cakes, donuts and my nemesis...crisps. So did I fall to temptation? If having two Roses is falling to temptation, then yes. But I think, with the amount on offer today, I was very successful. Not that I am someone who says you shouldn't eat that stuff, as I'm not (moderation is key) but I thoroughly enjoyed the chocolates.

However, I did do something bad and not eat for more than 5 hours, so when I went to the shop on the way home, it was extremely hard to fight off the cravings and desire to buy and eat rubbish. So tip, don't go for long periods without eating, it exaggerates your craving and desire for rubbish tenfold and also reduces your motivation to resist.

Just in case you didn't get the memo, I did resist.

So here is to another day of trying to eat healthily, resisting temptation and generally feeling good.

Stay strong.

💪resisting the crisps etc does get easier but don't be like me and get complacent. I had a horrid binge moment last year when bought a bumper pack of Doritos for daughter home on weekend break who never used it and I found it in cupboard a while later and thought I could just have a handful...ended up devouring the lot Draculaesque style. Didnt make me feel "fed" in the slightest just queasy and cheated.

Someone told me crisps originated as an Indian fresh street food to have on the go: heated up on the street and eaten hot: if true that does sound more tempting and probably far better for us than our kind, full of flavourings etc. However I find it best not to think about them too long or sense might go out the window 🙃!

Hi Wordsworth2, I’m totally in agreement with you that hunger pains will totally send you off course into eating anything you can grab. Before I joined this website I was always getting hangry, craving stuff and couldn’t go long without eating. What I’ve learned is that it’s not the length of time between eating, it’s that what you ate didn’t satisfy you for long enough. Making the leap of faith of ditching carbs (especially sugar!) and starting to enjoy fats again after years of low-fat diets - butter, cream, cheese, bacon rashers, avocados has made such a difference. Cravings subside, I can go for hours without needing to eat and have now lost well over 3.5 stone. LCHF is something that has made me healthier, happier and enjoying my food again.
