Just wanted to share... I was told 6 months ago I was pre diabetic my bloods at 47, had a blood test last week and now 42 so almost out of prediabetic levels,. No huge weight loss and only made small changes but I am super chuffed as I have heart issues so really do not want diabetes on top. Our local NHS do a course/group which has really helped with sensible advice and support.
Donโt usually share but was really pleased for a change

Great news! Well done. I was the same in summer 2018, diagnosed prediabetic and high BP. After losing some weight and doing more exercise mainly walking my blood sugars and BP were normal. I have just been told by GP that I no longer need blood pressure meds. It just proves it can be done.๐
I was referred to the diabetes prevention course but never got on it due to the long waiting list here. GP said I don't need it now as I have done everything they would told me.
Wow congrats!!! Shame about the lack of availability with the course though... you did amazing to manage without but to think that people are asking for advice and not being able to get access to all of it because of lack of resources is upsetting...
Aww congrats! That is great news and you should be very proud well done!!!
Brilliant well done. I was on insulin until three weeks ago. Last November partner passed away with pancreatic cancer. Was nearly 17st decided I had to do something started walking etc. Eating sensibly was on 94 units per day insulin reduced it every other month weighed 10st off the injections average bloods at 6 still on metformin. So happy Paul
I think it depends where you are. Not all areas do the diabetes prevention course. I think you get better advice on here anyway. It worked for me. Also have a look at the LCHF forum and the diet doctor website. Good luck
Aaah ok - thank you -Iโm a carer for my husband and he has been very ill lately but I will try and read up on it all as I need to be ok to look after him.
That's great news to drop 5 points , well done. I'm glad the course helped you. My partner attended a pre-diabetic course in our area and the dietary advice was questionable ... advocating low fat and no mention of carbs. I believe different health authorities are using different companies to run these courses so presumably yours gave you better advice. Keep up the good work .
I'm glad I didn't get on it then. You get much better advice on here. Hope your partner is okay now. My hubby has just been diagnosed prediabetic in spite of following LCHF with me. He has a lot to lose and doesn't do a lot of exercise as his job involves a lot of driving. Also working away and eating out a lot. I am wondering if he will get on the course and whether it is worth it if that's the advice they're giving out.
