Hi, Sturgesschris , Welcome.
Many of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Eating All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:
Hi Sturgesschris! I think most of us have had our share of failed attempts .... I know I have. I don't know you, but can say from experience, that it is often not wise to dive in headfirst and hope to be slim in a month! it takes time. Some weeks are little gains, some weeks little loss, some you stay the same. but if you find a way that you are comfy with and that makes you weigh less at the end of each month that you were at the start ... you WILL get there. If you dive right in, hate what you are eating, feel hungry, don't lose right away ..... you give in and put it on again.
I had about 6st to lose, I am hoping it will take around 18 months, I am on month 6 and have tried Low Carb high fat and intermittent fasting, they seem to be my golden key. Yours may be totally different! Lots of advice and encouragement on here. Good luck!
Lovely reply and I agree totally, you need to find a way of eating that you can stick to long term, thatβs relatively pain-free and with food you enjoy. I lost weight slowly, around 3-4 lbs per month, but the weight has stayed off ππ
