Saturday night, music says it all. Desperado, why don’t you come to your senses.

So no more g and TS and stick to decaf coffee....although not rock and roll, it’s got to be better for mind and body. What do you do when everyone is in the social sprit and you’re not?

Congrats on the weight loss since restarting Portlandprincess.

Can I assume that you over indulged yesterday!

Booze and socialising!? How to deal with them is probably a question for each individual and I doubt there's a collective answer.

Some people can tell themselves they'll have two G&Ts and stop others (myself) can't. If I'm not in a social spirit I'll likely just go off and do my own thing... the world is bigger than any one event that I might be at.

Don't give up the rock n roll :)

Thank you for your reply..l can stop drinking for a few weeks but when I fall off the wagon, I really crash land! True about events but many seem to include drink.

I've got used to it ,whenever there's a social event I normally drive so no alcohol for me.

Just been to a wedding drank water all day .

Had a drink last night at home ,I can take it or leave it .

I still have a good time.

When I go out with work ,they just know I'm not drinking.

I think it's just getting used to any change ,just do a few at a time then you are more likely to succeed.

Good luck .

Good tip...designated driver, here I come, and once committed, it’s the one time everyone stops asking if you’re sure you don’t want a g and t.

Everyone else were suffering from hangovers yesterday .

Not me though .

I’ve had the same struggles and have such bad hangovers that turn into migraines. Volunteering to be the driver works well, or aim at generally cutting down, or having a certain number of nights with no alcohol and then keep improving on that.

Don’t do what I did, was the driver at Hogmanay, made & drank a fab non-alcoholic cocktail and had a cracking migraine due to the sugar rush!

thank you for replying.really appreciate it..I think I might exaggerate the after effects of drinking...so many of my friends and family are keen to get me drinks, they might leave me alone if I tell them I’m reacting badly to the alcohol. Luckily, I don’t do sweet drinks of any kind.

I love wine and have always been able to put back huge amounts at the kind of events that lasts for hours and hours (weddings, NY etc). Now I’m finding it easier to restrict my intake and I think it’s because I don’t go on stupid starvation diets anymore! Thought I wanted to drink lots, actually was just desperate to get my plummeting blood sugar up!

I have noticed that as soon as I eat, I stop drinking! But if I drink and don’t eat...the fridge becomes a magnet. I think you’re right about the link with blood sugar. Thank you for that. Food for thought. Good luck this week.
