Hi, I joined the group today. Been struggling with my weight and self confidence for as long as I can remember. I started only eating plant based foods just a month ago and I’ll be honest about the fact I feel better for it. I don’t really know what to do with myself because I feel like even though I changed my eating habits and go to the gym, nothing has changed. I’ve been going to the gym for roughly 8 months and feel like I still don’t see a difference. I’m just not really sure what else to do but I have hope that I will get to where I wanna be eventually

Welcome, you have come to the right place! Are you going to join us in the weigh in today? Here is the link, hope to see you there! x
Hello and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum Sos27 😊
Well done on the changes you have made already, the gym will have made a difference, but by itself, will not affect weight loss greatly. For that you need to eat differently, either reduce portions, change what you eat, or both.
We have found that active participation is key to success, reading posts and replying to others, and taking part in forum activities every day. Please see today’s Chat Thread with a list of all the things happening on the forum healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... In particular you may like the Daily Diary, where you can plan your meals and receive support and feedback over your choices 😊
If you haven’t already then please read the Welcome post here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... please read it carefully and just ask if you have any questions.
I notice that you have left your post unlocked. We always advise that you select “only my community” when you write a post. Please read our security post here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
Best wishes in your weight loss journey

Hi Sos27 , well done on being consistent and going to the gym!
Unfortunately, I too have found in the past that we cannot outrun our calories - meaning that also if we exercise 2 hours per day but eat more than we burn, we won't see any change. Many times, after exercising we feel hungrier and 'entitled' to eat more because we exercised, so we deserve it, right? Apparently not.
I started exercising in October 2017 and was 256 lbs... well, guess how much I was after 4 months of working out 4 times a week and walking 10k+ steps every day? 250 lbs! That is when I started looking at WHAT and HOW MUCH I ate and I am now, 15 months after starting things properly 160 lbs... this goes to show how important it is to eat correctly.
On the other side of the scale, my brother body builds and most of his effort again is on food - eating right is way more important than anything else for him as well. Goes to show again that eating correctly is a must!
Try different approaches and find the one that works for you ie. low carb and high fat? Counting calories? It has to work for you, it has to fit in your everyday life as you want this to be a lifestyle change, not a temporary solution you'll get fed up with.
I count calories and absolutely love knowing that I am eating the correct amount to continue with my weight loss yet not feel hungry or unsatisfied.
Good luck with your journey, make it one you can enjoy!
I've struggled and yo-yoed for years!!
At 16, I decided I needed to lose a few pounds ... I was 8st! I am now 61 and back on the way down at almost 13st.
In that time I have tried all sorts of 'diets' on my own, tries WW and slimming world, but rarely lost much or stuck with it.
I think the key is finding the one that works for you!
A few years ago I did the 5:2 and lost over 5st. than had stress and extra work load and slowly it has climbed back!! I tried in that time to cut back ... but nothing worked and I caved in because I just didn't have the time to mess around with counting or preparing foods to fit in.
I joined here a few moths ago and tried the Low carb high fat way. and that worked! once my appetite had had been sorted I added fasting and am still experimenting with fine tuning what works for me, but it is now going down each week,
What i am trying to say is that, this works well for me, but it may not work well for you. You need to try different things and come on here for advice and chat and updates, to find a way that fits into your life, is healthy and works on your body .. we are all different! If you are still on plant based, it seems not to be working for you. Why not change track?
Good luck. 🤞
