Advice about eating set meals and/or when your not hungry

I haven't eaten yet today because when I wake up I'm not hungry. I am now really quite hungry so I'm going to make myself some beans on toast which is healthy and will fill me up. I'm actually really pleased that ice states recognising when I'm actually hungry and I'm choosing better things, but still having the odd treat.

My question is this;

Is is healthier to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner even if you're not hungry at those certain times. My main issue is breakfast, I'm just not hungry but I don't know whether I'm using this as a way of cutting back on calories as well. I'm genuinely not hungry until about this time. But am I damaging my metabolic rate even more by not eating breakfast earlier in the morning?

Hope this question makes sense.

Thank you in advance.

And I'd just like to add that knowing this community is here and my weigh in on Wednesday has really helped to spur me on, thank you xxxxxx

I don't believe it's necessary to eat a meal that you don't want, Loobylou. Many people practice intermittent fasting and go without breakfast regularly, but I don't think it's sensible to cut your calories too low either.

If you can eat your recommended calorie range in two meals a day, then go for it :)

Thank you so much for replying, that's made sense. I'm definitely eating too few calories so that's good. I'm also trying to follow someone else's is about eating every four hours just to try and control any binges and that's helping too so eating later in the morning helps with that too.

I'm also a really fast eater so I'm trying to be mindful of that and wait a good 20 minutes after my meal to allow my body to kick in to "full" mode before I contemplate anything else. I've just wolfed these beans on toast down in 10 minutes and normally I'd be off downstairs again to see what else I could find that then leads to a massive binge but I'm making myself busy and drinking peppermint tea and water to keep me from doing that. Xxxx

Why not log onto the Daily Diary, Loobylou? You'll get some great meal ideas, from people that are following many different plans. Everyone's really supportive and more that happy to give pointers and assistance, where necessary :)

Be careful what you choose to eat, too, as some foods 'bypass' the feel full mode and switch on the 'feed me' mode! :)

There's a daily diary? I really haven't got the hang of this yet have I 🙈🤣 I'll go a little look. What sort of foods set off the "fed me more" feeling? Is it sugar and simple carbs? Xxx

You'll find the link for the Daily Diary in Events.

Beans on toast!!! ;) Any food that spikes an insulin response, mainly simple carbs, especially sugar.

Natural fats are satiating and relatively inert, so don't have that effect on the body.

I have the same problem. I dont even like bf foods and end up eating sugary stuff. I have learned that is really is the most important meal and you must feed your body after the hours off during sleep. I do believe this helps rev up your metabolism and keeps you away from starvation mode when you store fat.

My problem is that I've discovered that if I eat breakfast early I end up eating SO much more throughout the day. It's like it kick-starts my appetite as well as my metabolic rate. Maybe the key is to find a balance so I'm not eating too late in the morning but not too early either. It's like I get hungry quicker throughout the day if I have breakfast, it's really weird......and annoying 🙈 xxxxx

Yeah, maybe eat a little less not so early would be better.

I am often the same and just have a drink. Then a couple of hrs later I have breakfast. But they do say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. This is, because usually you have your evening meal say around 7pm,breakfast around 7 am, that's 12hrs with no food during the day you go around 6hrs. Breakfast really mean Break Fast.
