Question about daily calorie allowance

Hello,

I have just started week 1 and hope I am not re-inventing the wheel as saw some previous posts touching similar question. Given that I am 38 years old short guy (162 cm / 5.3 foot) and my weight is very high at 93 kg / 14.64 stone., could you advise which option would be better for me please?

1. to stick to NHS BMI tool which tells me to consume between 1764-2268 calories on inactive day and between 1877-2413 on active day (if I am more active try to keep nearer the high end)

2. stick to 1900 calories a day without making any adjustments no matter how active I am

3. stick to Myfitnesspal which is linked to my Garmin tracker which monitors my movement and heart rate 24/7 therefore in theory, being most accurate but allowing calorie adjustment and allowing to eat the 'active' calories back?

Thank you very much in advance,

Michal

I would stick to the NHS bmi calculator and eat 1764 - 2268 cals. I would also eat to the higher range to start with. I started in the lower range and didn't lose then ate nearer mid to high range and lost weight

Wishing you all the best in your journey ☺

Hi and welcome to the forum..

I would suggest you get the best of both worlds..

Set your mfp to the NHS calorie range (between active & inactive) then your mfp will have all your activity and give you the correct calorie range to aim for.

mfp - Nutrition - Calories - Goal = enter your chosen calorie amount here, ✔️ to save..
