Good morning..I suffer from age defying weight loss!! I'm 69 and just can't shift it..I followed Slimming World and put weight on!!! My metabolism has gone on holiday. So, without a doubt it's now tight portion and calorie control. I am clear about WHAT to eat, it's the quantity .My exercise is walking an active dog..so that sorted.

Hello and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum pennycan 😊

You are not alone on noticing weight loss becoming harder as you age. I am in the same boat, but have successfully lost almost 3 stone, and kept the weight off. I do keep a close eye on portion control and eat moderate amounts of healthy fats as these help satiety. It seems all these years of being told to eat low fat are part of the problem 😕

I'd like to invite you to join our Newbie Club, which we hope will be a good place for you to connect with members, who are also just starting out. If you just post a few words to introduce yourself and respond to others there, you'll soon break the ice. Here's the link

You'll find all the information you need to navigate the forum in the header and a link to the 12 week plan, so please take the time to read it carefully.

Wishing you all the best

Anna

Welcome to this forum pennycan ! You are already on the right path - portion and calorie control. Just ensure you have sufficient calories as per your BMI because f you stick to lower calories, the body holds on to all you eat and leads to more weight gain. All the best!

Quantity was my downfall too. It’s amazing how quickly you can get a hang of the portion control. Into only my third week so still weigh everything but my judgements are improving all the time.

I have stuck a list on the fridge of my most commonly used foods, the portion size I should have and the number of calories that portion is. Makes the counting much easier. Oh, and I love my new digital kitchen scales!

Thank you for your replies and new kitchen scales are on my priority list. I am feeling very positive now☺
