Hope!

After years of yo-yo weight loss at the grand old age of 54 I have finally kept my weight constant for a year! I'm quite a big person (Rugby type build) and love food.

So to all those who feel it's hopeless and food just has you in it's vice like death grip, it is possible and can be done...but I confess it's not easy and I do fall off the healthy eating wagon now and again, but I don't beat myself up I just crack on with the next day...Oh and don't keep bad food in the house!

That's great news, Mick, well done you! :)

Thanks for the tips and motivation, you might like to join our Maintainers' Club and do the same there? :)

Thank you but I confess sometimes its a drudge, however as I live in Italy now, and we go to the beach quite a bit I have afforded myself a pat on the back here and there!

You should give yourself a pat on the back every day, as your achievement is amazing and worthy of all the praise it can get! :)

That is great on your weight. And your message was inspiring as well. Was a yo-yo dieter. But stop about 10 years ago and started at 16. Your doing fantastic!!!

I think losing weight should not be related to a specific diet but arranged around a lifestyle change, diets smack of self punishment, however sitting in front of the TV noshing Dominoes may also be seen as a self punishment (I however, don't see munching an American hot with extra meat self punishment)

But I do most strongly believe that long term health must be a lifestyle choice or for those of us who love food it will end in failure..
