good luck with weight losss. I'm about to start the 5:2 diet, with tomorrow being my first fast day. Wondering how I'll get on.

Hi Alexandra45

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

Sorry to hear about your prolapsed discs sounds very painful and I can understand why you are not able to do any exercise at the moment.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Rose

Good your getting started. I lost 16 lbs in 8weeks so far just on diet so you can do it. Good luck to you.

Hi Alexandra45

So sorry to hear that you have health issues, I hope you'll be feeling much better very soon.

I have just started here, but reading about great weight losses (with and without exercise), provides a great incentive to address my own weight issues. I hope it will do the same for you.

Good luck! 😊

Just by following my calorie amounts and this can include the 12 week plan if you want to or you can just do calorie only, you should be able to easily lose weight. Check out your calorie allowance on the NHS bmi calculator as this tells you how many calories to eat to be able to lose weight, re-check occasionally as this drops as you lose weight. Follow the higher amount of the two so you have amounts to drop with if you have problems. Do not eat less than between these two amounts though as your body thinks that your starving it and turns what your eating into body fat and this weighs more than eating the extra calories does so it stops you from losing weight and sometimes puts weight on instead. By doing this since I joined I have managed to lose 2 1/2st but before I only ate 1000 Cals and always put extra weight on or stayed the same. At least I know why now. Hope you have good luck with your journey.
