The struggles...

So summer holidays have begun, I have an 8 year old and a month old. Now when my older one is at school I potter around finding different things to do mostly outside but also inside the house. Now they have begun and my 8 year old has a major attitude we are spending most of the time in the house as he is grounded, this is leading me to eat just random stuff not necessary sweets and stuff but whatever is in the house.. I am also tired and bored which doesn't help with my comfort eating 😥

HI, sorry you are having a hard time. I am a teacher not a parent it would you find it easy to plan in some outside things to do together? He can still be grounded from his friends but at least you could go out together which would relieve the boredom for everyone. Otherwise you might drive each other mad!! Good luck

Hi, thank you. I do see where your coming from. I will see how he is when I take him out tomorrow.

It is really difficult when they don't do what you want them to do, believe me I feel your pain. Keep posting!

Well done for recognising that you are eating through boredom and tiredness, this weight loss game is a learning curve after all. So now you know why you're eating, you can make plans to avoid this pitfall next time. 😊

Summer holidays can be tough, and little boys of 8 can be both a delight and a challenge. I'm a firm believer in boys that age being outside but if grounding him is necessary then so be it. But there's no reason why you can't plan some indoor activities. 😊

Good luck! If you need help planning have a look at the Daily Diary 😊

Thank you.. yes unfortunately grounding is a last resort as we are all very social and my 8 year old LOVES to be outside, but he is at the joyful stage of pushing boundaries and taking a mile when he is given an inch.. 😁😁Hopefully he will learn his lesson soon 😎

I understand. My ten year old girls is getting sassy and I'm trying to nip it in the bud too. Try to find indoor hobbies, read or write a journal to help with frustrations and temptations. Good luck!

I feel your pain completely. I have a 7yr old, a 10yr old and a 12yr old, all of whom are determined to push every boundary to breaking. 3 days into the holidays and I am almost gnawing my wrists. My tactic is attack is the best form of defence. I try to schedule as many surprise activities for the four of us every day as I can to just keep them busy and burn off their energy. By the end of Suppertime I am nonetheless thinking longingly about bottles of gin, and I have not drunk in a long long time.

3 days... Here I am complaining and we have only done day 1.. I have sat down and planned different activities, including ones he has asked for. Just at the moment he wants to answer back at everything and give the gods worst attitude when you ask him to do something.. Quite glad I have only got one of him, the thought of 3 scares me 😥.. Good luck.. 6 weeks to go...
