Hello, I'm another newbie.

My story can be summarised as: work-related stress...increased comfort eating and reduced physical activity...piling on the pounds...various diets without success...lose some weight...put some weight back on...end up heavier than when I started.

At a NHS health check last week I was told to go to weightwatchers or slimming world, but this NHS community was never mentioned. I only heard about it when talking to a friend who knew somebody who had lost loads of weight through the NHS community.

I googled weightwatchers and slimming world over the weekend and didn't like what I read. They are businesses and they make money out of people's weight. How come the NHS promote these and don't publicise this free NHS option more???

Down to the facts: age 50, starting weight just over 16 st, primary goal 11 st to get me to the top of the "safe" BMI, and secondary goal 9 st to get me to the middle of the safe range.

Weight last Monday 225 lb, weight this Monday 221 lb - through eating less and exercising more...and being hungry all the time. Reading other posts it sounds like a good idea to take some body measurements too.

Looking forward to the journey and hope this time I reach my destination.

Impala good luck with your weight loss journey. This is a great group which gives lots of support and advice. I have spent my whole life losing weight and then putting more on but this time it feels different as it is not a diet it is a life style change. I have learned new habits so even when I fall by the wayside the damage is minimal.
