What!?!?!

Ok. I'm very confused! It's like I'm a medical marvel. I've walked 54 miles since June 10th, eaten under 1300 calories, drink at least 90 ozs. Of water per day, lift 3lb. Weights every day, and still only lost .2 lbs. That's right. 2 tenths of 1 lb. What the heck?! I'm in a serious funk! I feel like I'm doing EVERYTHING RIGHT! Still can't budge the scales. Any words of wisdom....I know this sounds like an outright lie, but I have apps to prove it.

Hi, welcome! You don't say how tall or heavy you are but it might be yo uarent eating enough! Have a look at the NHS calorie calculator to tell you how many you should be having. Also you have walked 54 miles in just under a month but unless you are doing lots of other exercise then this isn't much. 10k steps a day is over 4 miles so you need to be doing about 30 miles a week. You are obviously eating the right amount to maintain your existing weight but I am not saying you should necessarily eat less. Look at the 12 week plan to give you help. Good luck, you can do this!! 🤞

I understand, that it may not be alot, however, I'm coming from COMPLETE couch potato to this. It is a WHOLE LOT!. I'm building up to more miles. Rome wasn't built in a day. Thanks for the encouragement!

Also, I'm only counting my miles on a "walk". Not my daily steps. When I go for a vigorous walk, it is 1.5 to 2.5 miles per day

I wasn't criticising at all, I only said it as you were saying you hadn't lost weight. I believe diet is mich more important than exercise. I kept you find a combination that works for you. Good luck

Hi and welcome, shellyshops :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the NHS BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. In there, you'll find links to our daily Weigh-in's (you will choose just one day per week), our Daily Diary, where we post our menu and exercise plans, for accountability, advice and support and our “What's happening today” thread, where we pop in for a chat.

Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

How are your clothes fitting? I found when I had a personal trainer and was doing slimming world I was not really having a loss each week but I went from a size 16 to a size 12. The scales did not really budge I thought I need 4st off but only lost approx a stone over a year. Get a tape measure and record your measurements and track that as well and see how you feel. Good luck x

Some of my jeans are definitely looser. Not down a full size, but I can tell a difference. My Husband, and Mom SWEAR I'm shrinking....

Don't know your age and weight but you could easily be eating too little! If you dont eat enough your metabolism slows right down and the body hangs on to the pounds to keep you alive! Check your details on the BMI calculator to see if you need a few more calories.

Have you had your thyroid checked? It may be under active. I too have struggled to lose significant amounts of weight. Diet is a personal thing not a 'One size fits all' Do not despair, I know how it feels to be upset and frustrated when you are not rewarded for your efforts. We are here to support you, keep talking

Hi shellyshops1 I don't think you are eating enough calories every day. Please make sure you check out how many calories you should be having on the NHS bmi calculator as this gives you personal amounts but the other sites tends to give you average amounts. When I first joined I wasn't eating enough calories. This was why I wasn't losing weight. If you don't eat the amount the calculator tells you to you won't lose weight because your body thinks you are starving it and turns what you do eat into body fat. This stops you from losing weight and sometimes means you put weight on instead. Please don't make this same mistake. It looks like this is the reason you are not losing weight properly at the moment. As soon as I upped my calories I started losing weight and have now lost 2st.
