I'm not sure how quickly you are hoping to lose 4 stone. I think you will need at least 6 months to lose it safely and keep it off.
Welcome Mooresy
I had 4.5 stone to lose when I started my weight loss journey 5 years ago..... and thought I'd share a post with you about how I managed to lose that. It was a combination of things, over time... but the same as you, I have an absolute love of food and eating (blame French blood!) I have learned that I can still enjoy eating - just less (in terms of quantity) and eating out has become something I do occasionally rather than on a very regular (2 or 3 times a week) basis. I've also cut out a lot of snacking, and rarely eat breakfast.
Hi Mooresy and welcome to the forum, it sounds like you tend to do things with yourself just like I used to. I used to put on weight while trying all diets and if I did lose it was only for a few weeks and then it would stop and go the other way. I found out on here that the reason all this was happening was because I wasn't eating enough calories to start with or any diet day either because these days I would eat even less. I only used to eat around 1000 Cals and this made my body think I was starving it and turned what I did eat into body fat. This weighs more than eating the extra calories does so it stops you from losing weight and sometimes means your putting weight on instead. This is why you should check out the NHS bmi calculator as this gives you personal amounts to be able to lose weight safely and most of the other sites that can count your calories add this up but only tend to give out average amounts for everyone. They don't even tend to give amounts anywhere near the correct amounts most of the time. You get fairly high amounts with the bmi calculator and with the two amounts you get to lose weight with I would choose the higher amount as this amount does drop as you manage to lose weight as well. Hope all goes well for your journey. Good luck.
