Weekly shopping costs

Just had a wonderful suggestion from Itsbab which has prompted me to post this....

Has anyone on this WeightLoss plan seen any significant savings in their weekly shopping bill? I'd be so interested to know if swapping or excluding certain foods/drinks has actually been healthy for your finances too.

Thank you everyone.

I find it has cut down on my grocery bill as I am eating less. That's to say, things last longer so I don't need to replace them as often and I also don't need to buy my lunch as I plan for leftovers.

Though sometimes I will treat myself to something a bit more expensive (such as whole, fresh fish from the fish counter) and that can wipe out the savings! :)

Yes, you see I'm 'genetically coded' to do exactly the same thing thinking I've not bought cakes, biscuits, crisps so I can spend that fiver on the most expensive crevettes being sold!

Had to look that one up!

But yes, seafood can definitely add to your grocery bill. Funny in a country that's basically an island! ;)

I couldn't remember what those big prawn things are called-lobster 😂 I've no idea where in the depths of my brain I got crevettes from. Now I look like a twit 😂

I suspect I'm spending about the same, although it has been a long time since I bought all the junk food that I used to buy :)

I might have to run a little 12 week mini survey just to see if there's a financial gain or whether instead of spending £10 a week on rubbish foods actually gets spent on good foods.

It'll be interesting....

My shopping bill is definitely lower because most of it is fresh fruit and veg, but I do splash out on nice bread as I only have it couple of times a week. I also plan my shopping, and make use of odd scraps at the end of the week, which saves a bit. However any saving is quickly spent on new clothes!!! Lol 😂

Haha that's a great incentive right there 😂

I don't seem to be saving anything. I think the money that would have been spent on the wrong things now goes to buying a lot more fresh veg and fish, I do find fish can be quite expensive, I tend to look and see what is on the reduced counter. I have picked up some lovely big pieces of Salmon but it costs as much as a joint!

I'm with you there on the reduced counter stuff. My local co-op on a quiet night (mon, tues) after 8pm does fabulous reduced products.

I've always bought healthy foods but alongside that I've also bought the rubbish. So, I've rooted out my shopping bills for last month and I'm going to compare.
