Over a year on since my last post and over a stone back on too!

It has been over a year since I last posted on here and at that time I was starting to feel as though I didn't really need to use the forum anymore to log my weight as I was feeling happy with the way I looked and felt and hoped that the weight would continue to come off on its own if I stayed healthy and active. I managed to maintain my weight for several months by eating healthy, maintaining my running and even entered various races and completed a ten mile run in October 2016.

At around the same time as this I began a new relationship and after the initial butterflies in stomach phase when I was probably my lowest weight (around 11 stone 2 pounds), I then began to gradually put the pounds back on as I became more comfortable with my boyfriend and when we moved in together earlier this year. He is over a foot taller than me and slim but we are eating similar portions and not always making healthy choices. I'm eating out more and getting more takeaways as we enjoy treating each other. We walk to and from work together every day which is about an hour and a half of walking, but this doesn't seem to offset the calories we are putting in. I have discussed my weight with him and said that I want to try and get back down the weight I was when we met, but he just reassures me that he doesn't see any difference. I think he will try to support me but really if I want to make the change I know it needs to come from me.

We got back from holiday about a month ago and I was staggered by the difference I could see in the pictures (see below for me at my lightest and me now). I put so much hard work into losing weight the first time and I cannot allow myself to get any bigger! I'm so much happier in so many aspects of my life but my weight is always the one thing dragging me down (pardon the pun). I've been trying to make some changes the last few weeks. I'm using myfitnesspal again to log calories, I've been on a few short runs but I am yet to see any progress on the scales. I remember last time the motivation really came from this site and the feeling of accountability when posting every week so here is me saying that I'm trying again! I had a little tumble but I need to get back on track! I'll be trying to weigh in every Wednesday like I used to.

This morning I got on the scale and was 12 stone 7.5 pounds (1 stone and 5.5 pounds heavier than my lowest). I'm hoping to lose a pound a week.

Hi and welcome back, Rachel :)

As there have been a lot of changes over the year, I'm going to treat you as a newbie and give you all the updated info :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

We run a weigh-in every day of the week and you'd be very welcome to join one of them. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the HOME page, bottom on a mobile.

Come and join the Wednesday Wobble Warriors today :)

We also run a Daily Diary, where we share our meal and exercise plans for the day. It's a great place to get ideas and to keep us focused. The link can also be found in Events.

Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

Well done for coming back Hidden it is great to hear that the forum was a big part of your success. It is a real warning for all of us who might consider going solo - the forum really grounds us.

It is so lovely to hear that you have a special relationship and recognise how happy that makes you. I fully understand that losing some weight will make everything in the garden that much more rosy.

Hi and welcome back! :)

I'm glad you've managed to settle into a good relationship, but I can relate as my husband was always telling me I wasn't overweight when it was clear I was! It's good he's willing to support you in your goals.

I think maintaining is also something that worries me, that I'll be able to stick to the changes. But I've still got a ways to go before then! :P

Good luck and I'm sure you'll accomplish (again!) what you've set your mind on. :)

Hi Rachel, welcome back. It's lovely to read that your reason for regaining weight has been a happy one, nothing nicer than sharing food with someone you love! It sounds like your fella is nice and will be supportive, so good luck .

Hi Rachel, it's completely normal to find the scales turn northwards again after goal. I know your priority is to reverse the 1 and a bit stone, but maybe join the monthly maintainers club (first sunday of every month) where you'll find other people whose weight is fluctuating wildly during maintenance. I'm currently reversing a 10lb gain... ahem fluctuation... so you're in good company :) Really good to hear your new partner is supportive. Mine is too, I feel lucky :)
