I had a bit of an awful day yesterday I did the race for life which was wonderful but looking at the pictures I've been tagged in, I look enourmous π I hopped on the scales and I'm close to 18 stone the biggest I've ever been - I've got two young babies to think about so I'm going to stop crying and do something about it !

I feel your pain from hopping on the scales but you've achieved a lot by doing the race for life! You will have lapped all the people at home sitting on the sofa (including me) so focus on that achievement and it will help you to focus on your next goal x
Hi katyhannah1988 Well done for completing the race for life.
Welcome to the weight loss forum. I hope you get a new way of moving forwards that you want to stick to and can maintain... I joined this forum in January and have been encouraged by the replies and comments I've read on different ones posts... And excellent personal advice along the way.
Wishing you great success and support through the ups and downs...
Be loyal to you and your goals.. And become the healthy person you want to be running around with your beauties... And be their role model for life π
π We all hold the key to unlock what we are really capable of.. Just believe it, work at it and enjoy the progress.
welcome!!! I too jumped on (and near broke!) the scales when i started on 5th May and weighed 18stone. I know how you feel! It's a bit daunting if like me you need to lose 6stone to be a healthy weight, but I've set myself a goal of 3stone initially, i think i may even be happy at 15stone! Anyhow,do it bit by bit, aim for half a stone by end of June? If you stick to the first week 100% you could well lose close to that to begin with! Also i would advise if you are pretty sedentary normally, that you break yourself in gently and don't try to do everything at once like me!π
good luck and we are all behind you, another bit of advice is, if you are having a bad day/craving/about go overeat and throw all the hard work away......put a post on here so we can help you. Every time you have a bad day there will be lots on a good day to support you! π
I can understand your tears but you have just made the first step to turning it around, so please dry your tears and lets do this!
Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.
Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.
Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.
Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.
We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.
To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.
Congratulations on running the race for life, what a wonderful achievement
Now you can make small changes and start to lose the weight.
I started 3 weeks ago tomorrow and I have lost 3lbs in the first 2 weeks, (weigh in tomorrow, hoping for another 1.5lb) so if I can do it so can you. I weigh about the same as you now
Read as many posts as you can and post loads too as it has really helped to keep me motivated.
Good luck at reaching all your goals. Just set small ones to start with so that you get the feel good of reaching them quickly.

That's a fantastic achievement, well done. To do the race for life is wonderful, just picture yourself next year...
Welcome to the group!
Well done for doing the race for life! Fabulous cause and a real achievement. With your ability and will this will be a piece of cake!
If you're motivated to do this (and I can see that you are) then this is the right place to be for support, encouragement and that push forward!
I find the daily diary is great for logging your plans for the day and then how u have done. I like reading other people's plans to see where they have made good choices and then I sometimes copy meals
We are all here for you. I'm only here 3 weeks and making good losses for the first time in years.
I hope you enjoy it and get a lot of good out of it. And in no time you will feel better, and be modeling excellent healthy eating and activity for your babies
Let's do it!!!!!
I say high five yourself, doing a race for life is such an achievement. Be proud of the things you achieve and try not to let negative thoughts outweigh what you have done. Easier said than done I know all too well but it is definitely the smaller steps that count as one day you will look back and see a giant leap. Have faith, you can achieve what you put your mind to. we are all backing you. X
